Description

St. Mary's Convent Kohima was started on 15th February 1998 at the request of the diocese of Kohima. This house is under the Cathedral Parish and in the main center of the diocese of Kohima. The first members of the house were Sr. Carmela and Sr. Lincy. The people of the area belong to different tribes such as Mao, Angami, Lotha, and other smaller tribes. Since it is the capital city of Nagaland all kinds of people are mixed together.

The main apostolate of the sisters are Education, evangelization through prayer, house visiting, catechetical work and youth ministry.

Perpetual Adoration: This is another ministry we do in the center. Two sisters are set apart to spent time in front of the Blessed Sacrament whole day. It was started in the year 2000 at the request of Rt. Rev. Jose Mukala, the Bishop of Kohima. In the beginning Rev. sr. Damien and Rev. Sr. Tresa Joseph were volunteered to spend the time in prayer. This was an inspiration for the people and many people of the area started to come and pray with them and ask the prayer support from them. The adoration is held in the small chapel within the Cathedral church. Kohima cathedral looked after by the FCC Sisters.
